Hello, I’m Kirsty.

I have over 10 years experience in the Library Sector, specialising in Researcher Support and Open Science. I am now branching out and using my varied experience to support others.

  • I have over 10 years experience supporting research and researchers from within a library environment as well as a wide ranging commitment to facilitating open science. This includes research data management, open publishing, citation metrics, research impact, and advocacy.

  • I have extensive experience in writing for the web, conducting audience analysis, using social media, writing blogs, and the use of ‘Plain English’ to effectively communicate with a wide range of audiences.

  • I have developed a successful service facilitating community among our citizen scientists in my current role, as well as leading workshops to enable others to develop their support for Citizen Science in their own libraries.

  • I have qualifications in both Prince 2 project management and ProSci change management which I have used extensively at a variety of scales.

  • I have been involved in all elements of REF over time. My current PhD research is investigating the role that libraries and librarians play in research assessment with the goal to advocate for better recognition in future.

  • Process mapping can be a valuable tool in understanding the work of teams, and I have extensive experience of facilitating groups to create and refine processes.

  • From my first degree in Anthropology, through my initial work in libraries, up to the present day I have developed a keen interest in user experiences, whether using systems and tools, or library spaces, I have significant experience of UX projects at different scales.
